Repricing

What is Repricing?
Repricing is the automated adjustment of product prices in response to market events — most commonly a competitor's price change, a stock-out, or a Buy Box shift on a marketplace. A repricing engine consumes live competitor data and rewrites prices according to rules or algorithms, often many times per day.

Repricing is most visible on marketplaces like Amazon, where sellers compete for the Buy Box and prices on popular listings can change hundreds of times a day. Rule-based repricers follow instructions such as "stay 1% below competitor X but never below cost + 8%", while algorithmic repricers optimize toward a goal such as profit or Buy Box share.

Reliable repricing depends entirely on the freshness and accuracy of the underlying competitor price feed — stale or mismatched data leads directly to lost margin or lost sales. See how rules and guardrails work in dynamic pricing software.
